How Skyrim perks work
- One perk point per level. Each time your character levels up you get one point to spend in any tree. You can also save points for later.
- Skill requirement. Each perk (and each rank of a multi-rank perk) needs a minimum level in its skill.
- Connected perks. You need at least one of the perks connected directly below it in the tree.
- Legendary skills. At skill level 100 you can make a skill Legendary: it drops to 15 and every perk point in that tree is refunded.
In total there are 180 perks with 251 ranks. Without Legendary skills you reach level 81 at most, which gives 80 perk points.
